January Council Highlights

Good news! There have been many and varied reports of people who saw the RLC slide ad at the movies!

Pr Sue has joined the Juneau Community Suicide Prevention Task Force as the clergy representative for the Juneau Cooperative Council of Churches.

Council approved the membership for the Laird and Westphal families. There will be a new member welcome at worship on January 29.

The following positions are available: council secretary (does not have to be an elected member of council); contributions recorder; audit committee member; eight council seats. Please consider people who have these gifts to share.

A sabbatical financial statement/plan was distributed. Council moved said 2012 plan constitute a continuing education agreement between Pastor Sue Bahleda and the council (Carried 8-0).

The council moved to direct the building committee to continue planning and fundraising (Carried 8-0). The council moved the committee solicit a proposal from Bruce Denton as the contractor for the building project (Carried 7-1).

Budget information: while December receipts were significantly less than projected, no outstanding bills or invoices for 2011 were unpaid. However, 2011 began with a Reserve Account cushion that bridged financial gaps across the year; 2012 is starting no similar cushion and the responsibility to re-fund the Reserve Account. The council moved to put forward an amended proposed budget for the January 29 semi-annual congregational meeting (carried 8-0). The council stressed the importance of having a significant representational turnout at the meeting to consider the financial needs for RLC.
